Oh good. You clicked.

This is where I'd say 'welcome' but we both know you just want to see the portfolio before committing to anything. Fair. Look at the work. If it makes you feel something, there's instructions on how to apply at the bottom of this page.

We’re looking for a Freelance Creative Director / Writer

Tango needs two. We need one who writes.

Most brand work is safe because it was designed to be safe. Not to be remembered.

We’re not interested in that. We’re interested in work that changes how a brand is seen, felt, and understood. Work that moves business and earns attention instead of asking for it. We’ve done it with brands like Starbucks, Realtor.com, Samsung, Adidas, and others. The goal is to raise the standard again. Creativity and selling product are the same job.

Also, full transparency. This is not a large structure. It is a small, high-trust creative setup. The “we” is intentional. Not corporate.

What we build together:

  • We find the idea. The creative and strategic center of gravity everything else pulls from.

  • We define positioning and translate it into a clear creative system.

  • We write copy that carries the idea across channels, not supports it.

  • We shape campaigns, film, and brand activations using strong creative direction and thinking.

  • We interrogate the brief, the work, and each other until only what matters remains.

  • We focus on making work neither of us, and our clients, could arrive at alone.

Who you are:

  • Strong expertise in concepting, storytelling, and creative direction

  • Proven ability to find ideas and translate them into work across channels

  • Proficiency in both strategy and craft, with equal comfort in thinking and making

  • Experience writing copy that is clear, persuasive, and commercially effective

  • Strong understanding of brand positioning and how it shows up in culture

  • Ability to lead ideas through production from concept to final execution without dilution

  • Strong taste and ability to articulate creative decisions clearly

  • You are not looking for more work. You are looking for better work.

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams with low ego and high standards

  • Portfolio that demonstrates conceptual thinking, not just executional output

  • Comfort operating in both agency and in-house environments is a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Advertising, Communications, or a related field is preferred. Or not. If you can consistently come up with ideas that grow businesses, nobody is checking your diploma.

Important notes on how this works:
No DMs. I know your inbox is already full of “love your work” messages from people who definitely did not read your work. We’re not that. You’ll get an automatic response if it’s a fit. If it’s not, you’ll hear that too. No ghosting. No “let’s grab coffee sometime and never do.” No vague professional flirting.

Just a yes or a no. Very old school. Very efficient. And if things go sideways later, it’s probably me. I care too much. I’ll push on ideas at inconvenient times. I have strong opinions about kerning. It’s a whole thing.
